Tell us a little bit about your childhood and where you grew up.
I was lucky to grow up in one of the oldest cities in the world that has existed for 2500 years where multiple civilizations passed from it, Romaine, Greece, Utmane … It’s called Constantine in Algeria, being in such a place gave me the chance to have a lot of life requisition based on the traditions and solid family relationships.
How did you get into programming?
My journey with programming started at university. The time I chose Computer Science as a field I want to continue in, it fits me since I by nature like to resolve problems.
How long have you been part of iDempiere?
I have followed Compiere and Adempiere projects since 2013. I configured my first iDempiere workspace in 2015.
How and why did you get involved with iDempiere?
The magic of OSS, where you can be productive on the first day.
What is your experience in other OS projects?
I am fascinated by everything open source, projects or frameworks.
Is there something that makes you passionate about open source in general and iDempiere in particular?
First of all is the community around most of the OSS, and second the ability to be part of the contributor with something that answers your business needs.
What does your typical day look like?
I am an early bird, my day starts at 6 a.m. especially when I moved to Canada,
- Start working till 9 a.m
- Take short break
- Work again till 3/4 p.m with a break.
- Go to the gym.
- Go back home, do some housework, cook (I love cooking) and watch TV with my wife.
- Sleep early
If you have your customers for whom you implement or customize iDempiere, what are they like and what do they typically want?
- Watania Distribution: Saudi Company that delivers books and newspaper
- Multiple travel agencies (Numidia / clicngo / 123 booking): iDempiere plays a role of a centralized finance solution that connects multiple reservation platforms (Amadeus, hotelbeds, lotofhotels..).
What are some of the things you would like to improve in iDempiere?
I think since Compiere time the user interface has always had the same design even that more option was added, what I would like to see is to separate the UI from the backend and find a way on how to use iDempiere’s services out of the user interface,
How does it feel to win the Hero of the Month title?
Being a HERO is something fascinating, and being a HERO in a place that you love is crazy.
What else would you like to say?
I would like to thank all the project contributors and the project maintainers who make iDempiere!
What would you like to say to other community members? Any advice or suggestions?
Stay active and motivated!
I am a systems engineer with a great passion for open source, software development, and technology in general. I have been part of the iDempiere community since 2012. I believe the enterprise world is one of the most aggressive environments out there. Companies tend to ruthlessly compete against each other. That is why seeing competitors co-exist and cooperate in harmony in iDempiere (and OSS communities in general) is so interesting to me.
