I am a Brazilian software engineer and open-source enthusiast. I’ve been an active contributor to iDempiere, combining my passion for technology with crafting solutions for businesses.

Tell us a little bit about your childhood and where you grew up.

I was born and raised in a small town in Brazil. I was always curious about how things work. When I was 8, I got my first computer, which increased my interest in technology and set the foundation for my journey in programming.

How did you get into programming?

One day, my father thought it was a good idea to give me a computer as a birthday gift, and that was amazing because it shaped my future and stated my love for problem-solving. As a child, I spent hours exploring my computer (when it was connected to our TV), and eventually, I started learning how to build simple programs. This passion grew stronger during my teenage years, and I decided to pursue it as a career.

How long have you been part of iDempiere?

I have been part of the iDempiere community since its early days in 2010, making it over a decade of contributions and collaboration.

How and why did you get involved with iDempiere?

I first encountered Compiere in 2010, which led me to discover Adempiere and eventually iDempiere. I was drawn to iDempiere’s community and the opportunity to work on a robust open-source ERP system. It was exciting to be part of a project where I could both learn and share my knowledge.

What is your experience in other OS projects?

Throughout my career, I have contributed to various open-source projects, mainly in the ERP and business software domains. My involvement is usually from coding and debugging to helping improve documentation and user experience.

Is there something that makes you passionate about open source in general and iDempiere in particular?

What excites me most about open source is the collaborative spirit—people from around the world come together to build something greater than the sum of its parts. iDempiere, in particular, stands out for its great community and its ability to provide real-world solutions for businesses.

What does your typical day look like?

A typical day involves a mix of coding, testing and reviewing iDempiere related code, and also architecting solutions for specific businesses. I also spend time interacting with the community and collaborating on features.

If you have your customers for whom you implement or customize iDempiere, what are they like and what do they typically want?

Many of my customers are mostly medium-sized businesses looking to streamline their operations. They often seek tailored solutions that integrate seamlessly with their existing workflows, and they value the flexibility and cost-effectiveness that iDempiere offers.

What are some of the things you would like to improve in iDempiere?

I would like to see enhancements in usability and documentation to make iDempiere more accessible for new users. Additionally, I believe there’s room to improve and modernize the user interface to align with current design standards.

How does it feel to win the Hero of the Month title?

It’s a great honor to be recognized by the community! I feel incredibly grateful and motivated to continue contributing and supporting the project.

What else would you like to say?

To my fellow community members: never underestimate the impact of your contributions, no matter how small. Together, we are building something remarkable. For newcomers, don’t hesitate to dive in—there’s always room for more hands and fresh ideas!
