TESTING DAY KICK-OFF GUIDE

Ready to Test? Here’s Everything You Need to Get Started

QUICK START (5 minutes)

Choose your preferred test environment:

🐘 PostgreSQL: https://test.idempiere.org/
🦁 Oracle: https://test-oracle.idempiere.org/
🧪 Alternative: https://test-feature.idempiere.org:3243/webui/

Alternatively, you can set up a local environment for more in-depth testing.

We also want to test the REST API, which is currently available exclusively on test environment at test.idempiere.org. You can run API endpoints using tools like Postman against this server. If you’re interested in learning REST and how it integrates with iDempiere, there is no better opportunity – our REST experts will be available to support you throughout the testing days.

WHAT TO HAVE READY

Before Tuesday:

  • Choose a test environment (PostgreSQL recommended if unsure)
  • Request edit access to the testing document here: Google Doc Test Cases
  • Join the #triage Mattermost channel to coordinate and get support

COMMON QUESTIONS

Q: Which environment should I use?
A: PostgreSQL (test.idempiere.org) is the most common. Use Oracle if that matches your production setup. The feature branch environment is usually less crowded.

Q: The test credentials don’t work anymore?
A: Notify us in #triage, and we’ll fix the access as soon as possible.

Q: Do I need to download anything?
A: No downloads required! Everything runs in your web browser – just log in and get started.

Q: What if something breaks?
A: Test environments can be reset easily. Don’t worry – nothing you do will affect real businesses. Breaking things is encouraged!

Q: I’m having technical trouble.
A: Ask in #triage, and we’ll help as soon as possible.

Q: How long will testing last?
A: We’ll be live all day Tuesday & Wednesday. Join whenever suits you – you don’t need to stay the whole time.

Q: Can I test with a team?
A: Absolutely! Coordinate in #triage to divide test cases and avoid overlapping work.
