We are hosting our yearly community test day, a virtual community event, on November 30th and December 5th, 2021.
This day brings the entire iDempiere community together to engage in community activities to test the upcoming release of the new stable version.
The goal is to unite the community and test the system in every possible way before the official release to help everyone has a smoother upgrade.
This is only possible with the help of the entire community. Please join us and help us with your expertise to maintain this high-quality piece of software we all love.
How does it work?
This year we will start with the existing test scenarios as a base. So the community members who want to participate can decide if they:
- Test one of the existing 51 test scenarios from last year to check that no existing functionality is broken with the new release.
- Add new test scenarios to try further futures of the system.
* It is important that we test the new features added to version 9.
If you want to know more about how to add tests and how to communicate with the community during the day, please read this wiki explaining all the process.
We are looking forward to your help and will thank everyone who participates. The project will record assistance and the number of test case scenarios created and retested by everyone to give you the proper credit you deserve. So do not hesitate to participate and get your name recognized in upcoming news!
For developers:
Are you a developer and want to bring your expertise with you on the community test day?
Help us improve and extend the unit tests in the core. The unit tests are a great feature that would allow us to introduce changes into the system with better backward compatibility testing.

I am a systems engineer with a great passion for open source, software development, and technology in general. I have been part of the iDempiere community since 2012. I believe the enterprise world is one of the most aggressive environments out there. Companies tend to ruthlessly compete against each other. That is why seeing competitors co-exist and cooperate in harmony in iDempiere (and OSS communities in general) is so interesting to me.
